Let me start by saying the television show, Mantracker has been a bonding experience for my step dad and I. For those of you that aren’t aware Mantracker (Terry Grant) “hunts” contestants over a two day period through treacherous landscapes and terrains most often capturing his prey before they reach the finish line. It’s exhilarating, suspenseful and I love watching his skill at tracking, navigating through the environment with his horse and his dry sense of humour.

Watching the show together was an easy way to break the ice and start a conversation for my step dad and I in the beginning of our relationship.  So when I heard Terry Grant was coming to Prince George I had to get involved!  Terry Grant was in town promoting his new book Mantracking: The Ultimate Guide to Tracking Man or Beast and participating in a “mystery” car give away by Prince George Motors.

When I arrived at Prince George Motors, I stopped by the radio station booth and  introduced myself to the announcer, Carol. She was very enthusiastic and full of energy (I could borrow some of that on a daily basis!). We took a picture by the mystery car, which was later won by a lovely fellow named Brian.

While waiting for Terry Grant to arrive I took the opportunity to “sub” in for a volunteer and cook hot dogs and hamburgers for charity with the Foothills Lions Club of Prince George. The Foothills Lions Club is International and sponsors a wide variety of charitable organizations, including the BC lions Society for Children with Disabilities they also provide buses for children with disabilities.

Many of the volunteers had volunteered for years on end and they were passionate about volunteering, some even came from out of town to be involved. I’m looking forward to volunteering with them in the future. You can check out their website and find a Club near you at  PG Lions Club.

All in all it was a great day to promote my platform, meet some community members, a real live cowboy and cook some hot dogs with some real live hero’s.

I’m looking forward to what comes next.
